thinking & writing

I’ve been thinking and writing for all sorts of different people since 2008. I’ve put details of some key projects up on the news page.

Sometimes I’ve worked directly with the client, sometimes through agencies Imagination, Afia, Brand Catalyst, First Protocol and others.

experiential planning

I worked full time at experiential agency Imagination from 2005 to 2007, bringing brands to life through some truly theatrical workshops, brand experiences and live events.

Favourite projects included speechwriting for Vodafone UK’s entire board, helping launch BT Vision, developing brand theatre for various Sony Electronics Europe brands, working with Ericsson to redefine their international exhibition presence and naming the Ford Kuga and iosis.

creative consulting

I spent the first few years of the millennium working as a Creative Consultant at branding and design agency Corporate Edge, and then freelancing.

It was a very varied time – amongst other projects, I came up with the name ‘Nectar’, made brand films for Shell, went hunting brand stories in a BG natural gas facility just ouside Alexandria, clarified Help the Aged’s tone of voice and look and feel, and helped rebrand Shetland.

learning the basics

I learned the marketing basics at Unilever subsidiary Birds Eye Walls’ in the mid-90s. Then, I brought my personal and professional skills together in the film industry, helping the BBC, Intermedia and others assess the creative and commercial possibilities of new film projects.
